Civil War Tunes
Recorded June 25, 2006 by Carl Anderton playing gut-strung reproduction Civil War era banjo (made by George Wunderlich). These unrehearsed recordings were made during a reenactment of The Battle of Cole Camp, Missouri (1861). "We just found a shady spot and I started playing what ever popped into my head," reported Carl to members of the Minstrel Banjo forum.

The tune,
World Turned Upside Down, is a Revolutionary War era tune (first published in 1643) that was also popular during the U.S. Civil War.

The music is by Martin Leibschner from his CD,

Raw Earth

Sigebay
Musical Chairs

Raw Earth is a percussion-driven band that plays music based on classical African rhythms. The Saint Louis based band describes their sound as "experimental traditional Afro urban tribal." Their motto: "We don't play music, we play Earth sounds." It is a jazzy setting bones are not often associated with. Yes, the bone player is a little wacked out. But that is to be expected.

Recorded Saturday July 7, 2007 at the former Jefferson Underground art gallery in Saint Louis, Missouri.
